Decide whether to preserve network credentials

Keeping the same suitable SSID and credentials can reduce reconfiguration for many Wi-Fi devices, subject to the new router's security settings.

Know which devices are not Wi-Fi

Thread and bridged devices may not need direct Wi-Fi re-entry, although their controllers or bridges do.

Change one layer at a time

Verify the basic network before troubleshooting automations.

Keep reset codes and account access available

Some devices may still require re-pairing.

Keep in mind. Compatibility is not permanent. Confirm the current manufacturer, platform and certification information before purchasing, resetting or migrating a device.
